You ruined my life with the trailer and I hate you!
These are the words my daughter yelled at me last night. I have heard these words before (from both kids) but they still burn. Last week I shared the 5 Things I Miss Most. Here is my kids’ version.
My Kids’ Top Ten Complaints About Life in a Trailer
- I have no room of my own.
- I don’t have all my toys!
- See #2 but insert games, books, or videos.
- We never do anything fun!
- I miss my friends!
- I miss having a normal house. (Usually whined with a return reference to #1.)
- Road trips are boring!
- Homeschool stinks and you (Me) are a terrible teacher.
- I miss Wi-Fi, e.g. online play with friends, Netflix, YouTube, etc.
- I’m forced to spend time with you (already established Worst Mother Ever) and Daddy!
Now I could take issue with a few of the above. Anyone who has seen our IG stream know that they do indeed go fun places and are far from bored. Despite the hyperbole, however, they have legitimate frustrations. We did take them out of a life they knew and mostly loved. We have asked them to sacrifice space and comforts, as well as leaving behind friends. This part hurts me. I believe that in the long run, they will end up ahead and happy they did this. I hope so. In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to accept being hated every now and then.

it may take a while, but they will appreciate this awesome opportunity at some point. I am jealous of your bravery in jumping into this amazing adventure. Your kids will learn so much from watching you navigate all of this.

Thanks! I do believe they will appreciate it but man, it is so hard while they figure that out!

You guys are doing great and you are an awesome mom! When they grow up, they will understand why you all are doing this and they will cherish all the exciting places they have seen and fun things they have done. They might not understand it now, but teaching them there’s more to life than just fancy things is very important. Mother of the year in my book! =)

Thanks. You are too sweet. I hope that they will look back fondly and that I will have taught them to value different things.
Appreciate the kind words. A lot.

I love this list because had you still been living at home, the kids would just find other things to complain about. I love that you did this!! I look forward to reading more about your journey!! Awesome post, thank you for sharing! Have a wonderful weekend!! xx Ashleigh @SimplyWright

Ashleigh, that is so true. When we had a normal home, they were bored that we never went anywhere! Parents just can’t win.
Thanks for coming my way and have a wonderful weekend!

They will look back on it with fond memories and probably try to take their kids on road trips.
