So, maybe you noticed I have not been around these parts, lately. The last couple of weeks have been tough and the Star Family was stopped in their Travels tracks. We wound our way home but felt our hearts were a little lost along the way.
A very dear lady passed almost two weeks ago. She was my grandmother, but she was more than that. She was a lot of the inspiration for the Star Family to take to the road.
Known as Big Mama, she and her hubby — yes, you guessed it — Big Daddy, spent many years on the road. They owned every version of trailer, 5th wheel, and coach you can imagine. They drove to every state (multiple times), as well as Canada and Mexico. As a child, they took me on trips and inspired my love of travel on the road.
She lived a beautifully long life and we were blessed to have her for 87 years. But I am still saddened by the hole left in our lives. We are headed back out this week, however, and she would have it no other way. Stay tuned. The Star Family is back in the groove and the Travels will resume. I hope you will rejoin us and come along for the trip.

Oh, Traci. That’s very sad news! I had both of my grandparents with me into my 30s, and I still feel a void (at age 45) from their absence. After loved ones like that are gone, say their names a lot with your kids. I think that helps us feel like they’re still alive and with us. And those names are so great! Peace.

Thank you! I am trying to keep them alive to the kids. I wish they had longer with her but I do feel blessed that they knew her.
