Leaving a Little Baggage Behind

June 15, 2015 by Traveling Star 2 Comments

What a morning! We woke up in Dayton, Ohio. The kids swam and played on the playground before we drove out. It was really pretty close to perfect.

I want to capture everything so perfectly which is impossible. Perfectly impossible. And so often, I am paralyzed in this attempt to be perfect. This has been my journey over at A Star in My Own Universe but now I find it following me here at Travels.

baggage, travel, emotional baggage

I had this glorious idea that I would keep a journal each night of our days. Easy-peasey, right? Except I wanted to share pictures. And those have to go through pic monkey so that it’s Pin-nable, of course. And I need to proof read it and make sure there aren’t horrible misspellings and grammar problems because the internet grammar police are out there. All of which takes energy which I frankly lack at the end of these traveling days. Add to that several weeks throughout wherein the intern was a long-lost friend and well… disaster. According to my travel journal, we are still in Dallas in March! Last I looked, it’s June and I have seen about 9 states since. Those who follow our IG account must really be confused.

And perfectionism keeps me from just starting where I am because I need everything to be in order and on-time. Well, obviously, not on time. But in order — yes!

So, here we are. My stalemate with perfectionism has followed me through Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and now, Ohio.

Despite all the downsizing, I did, I guess I still have some baggage to leave behind.

omg, the internet grammar police! doncha love those folks! and btw . . .your grammar is near perfect! errrrr, i mean, nearLY perfect. (correct?) anyways, that made me chuckle.
on a similar note to your “best laid plans” of keeping a nightly journal . . . at one point (when the twins were babies), i started a weekly journal that i entitled “a letter to my daughters.” weekly. i couldn’t even keep up with that! i think i lasted a few weeks. oh well. life takes over, right?
i think you guys are doing great! it’s a LOT, what you’re doing!
