We have found our way to western coastal Mississippi. Just over the Louisiana state line is a small town called Waveland. Buccaneer State Park sits just south of Waveland on the Bay of St. Louis. The entrance faces the bay across the aptly named Beach Road. There is a large water park that was closed which disappointed the children until they found the playground. There is a large play structure…
which had this groovy thing,
Don’t ask me what it’s called but Sonny-Bunny loved it. They quickly, however, discovered their favorite — an old fashioned merry-go-round.
A rare thing on playgrounds these days, the kiddos glommed to it. They loved spinning around and around, resulting in the pet moniker of “spinny-spin”. “Hey, let’s go to the ‘spinny-spin’!” “Mommy, can we please go down to the playground, I want to ‘spinny-spin!” Unlike some of the other parks, the playground was not within a comfortable walking distance to send the kids without a parent. Anything, however, that makes these two screen-loving kids beg to be outside was worth stopping whatever we were doing to take them.
I want a ride on that Spinny-spin, myself! There’s more to come but I am happy to say that #starfamilytravels has another “we were here” on the map!

I’m sharing this Sunday in the park with Sundays in My City because these days any city could be our city!
