So it’s catch up time! (You might have noticed that I have given up numbering the days; another lesson from over a week without internet.)
We started the travels with a short trip from our extended home base at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. We drove a couple of hours southwest to Canyon Lake. We stayed at the Hill Country Jellystone Park. And if you’re thinking “Jellystone? Like Yogi Bear?” The answer is…
Yes. That Jellystone. It is a fun family-oriented resort that offers cabins as well as camping. We had a lovely pull-through spot right next to the playground which was convenient as this was the spot that the tongue jack broke and the trailer rolled back. (Remember chock, chock, chock.) It kept the kids happy and away from the very slightly frustrated Daddy.
The resort offers laser tag, swimming (indoor/outdoor), and a giant bouncy play yard. Unfortunately, it rained almost the entire time so we weren’t able to partake in a lot of these options. We did, however, make use of the indoor pool. A benefit of going off season is having the entire pool to ourselves.
The staff was super nice, even giving Little Diva a birthday send-off with song and a gift. We definitely will be visiting there again; hopefully on a few sunny days.
