A little update on our battle against the STUFF. We cleared out the trailer and started from scratch and are doing much better. I cannot say that we are at 100% need only but we are close. If I am honest, I am the greatest culprit here. I suffer from the “we might need this one day” syndrome though I have made HUGE progress.
I spent much of last week at my parents. Despite the massive amount of things cleared out of our home, there were things lurking there, as well. Things that were moved between houses over and over, sometimes never opened. Oh, what a field day Peter Walsh would have had with us!
I unloaded five bines and emptied about 12 boxes resulting in two more truckloads to the local women’s charity. The job is not complete and I know there is still too much in storage but I really am feeling lighter. It is hard to fathom how we have accumulated so much. Sometimes, I still struggle with the decision to let something go (which is why we still have storage0. However, sometimes I look at an item and wonder why we ever thought we needed it. As this journey continues, I suspect that the shedding of unnecessary items will become easier. Or at least, a girl could hope.)
We are still in neutral with Mr. Hero’s retirement. As I mentioned before, this is a road bump that I did not anticipate and for which I was not mentally prepared. I’m trying to stay positive and keep the kids busy exploring our local treasures. I am pleasantly surprised by how much we haven’t done in our own city so that will have to be the adventures for now.
The road awaits. And evidently, so do we.

Have you checked out cagefreefamily.com? Go all the way back to the beginning of the blog and learn how their family got rid of (just about) everything and moved into an RV. I’m sure you’ll get some good ideas from their journey! And you’re welcome to come visit wherever I am!
