This past week, we began our homeschool adventure. We took a break from decluttering to head down to The Health Museum in Houston, Texas. It was a terrific educational opportunity that was actually fun. This came as a distinct surprise to Sonny-Bunny who has come to the hard mindset that “learning is boring” and “learning can’t be fun”. I am hoping that this year of pushing away from the desk and getting out in the world will dispel that view.
This was a great place to start. The museum invites you to enter the human body.
You then walk around into the mouth and visit the teeth. We brought Nana along for this adventure.
We then followed the digestion track. Sonny-Bunny did not appreciate this at all. In fact, he made a point of gagging which I did not appreciate. Then, we moved into the brain.
Little Diva was especially fascinated by the brain. Next came the skeleton. Sonny-Bunny got back in the game here.
He especially liked the skeleton that he could make ride a bike.
Little Diva loved the body scan that allows you to see the body via X-Ray, cat scan and MRI.
Finally, we looked up and notice we were inside a giant rib cage.
All in all, we really enjoyed the museum. I even learned things! We hope to return! I’m sharing this with Sundays in My City over at Unknown Mami.

Fun! The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia has a giant heart you can walk through. I always loved that as a kid.

It’s really a cool way to present the body to kids. I’ll have to remember the Philadelphia museum for our travels.
